Don’t we love games and lottery than say boring investments :)
One of the things which have always been fascinating is the lifelines which a user has during the game. These lifelines like Fifty-Fifty, Double Dip, Phone a friend our often truly the lifeline of the show. However, all these are not just random ideas or marketing plays. They usually have probability and robust consumer research behind them
As an example, let’s compare the winning chances of Fifty -Fifty and Double Dip.
Fifty-Fifty allows you to eliminate 2 of the wrong answers, whereas Double Dip will enable you to pick answers twice. Looks similar, eh!! Let’s look at numbers once though
Fifty-Fifty: Since this eliminates two wrong answers, the remaining options have one right and one wrong. The probability of getting the right answer thus is 50% (1 out of 2).
Double Dip: The first chance of being correct is 25% (one from four). Suppose that goes wrong so now three answers are left. The probability now of correct answer though is 33% ( 1 from 3) in both cases lesser than Fifty-Fifty.
Considering the times, we hope Fifty -Fifty is back!! We need a higher probability of happiness.
Chart of the week: How credit card spends are falling 😞
The investor presentation of SBI shows the overall falling trend of card spends which also indicates that demand has crashed

As the lockdown opens, it will be interesting to track this figure to see if the demand revives or not.
Remember the top 1.5% of Indians by Salary ( who also have credit cards) drive pretty much the whole demand for Indian economy.
If they don’t start spending, which will reflect on credit card spends no matter what stimulus the economy won’t revive.
